British Superbikes Thruxton

We had the honour of being invited to join a few our Clubs in putting on a display of motorcycles at the Thruxton round of the British Superbike championship. Seeing and hearing the bikes in the flesh is amazing as you don’t realise the speed they riding around at on the TV. Thruxton is the fastest circuit on the BSB calendar.

MG Club

The local MG Owners Club had their annual gathering at the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum. We were invited to put on a display of motorcycles as it was being held there. Unfortunately due to other commitments we were only able to display a few bikes.

CRMC Donington Park

The Annual August CRMC meeting at Donington Park where the NOC present the Peter Williams Trophy in his memory. The NOC had a display of race bikes in the Melbourne loop. Peter’s wife Pam and his son Jack attended the meeting and presented the trophy on the podium which we were privileged to go up and join them.

Festival of 1000 Bikes

The VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes return to the Mallory Park circuit in a blaze of glory with temperatures in the low 30’s and continuous sunshine. It was the usual format for us with one group of our members run the display in the Avenue of Clubs and another group with the display of race bike in the paddock. A great time was had by all especially on Sunday when a few of us were out on the track.

VMCC Banbury Run

The VMCC Banbury Run returned to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon after a 3 year break due to covid. It was great to see, hear and smell all the pre 1931 motorcycles again! The Norton Owners Club had their usual display of bikes just past the start line which ideal to see all the bike start and leave.

Historic Thruxton

This was a new event for our Club as this was the first time that motorcycles were invited to Historic Thruxton. there were only cars on the track but there was a good display of bikes from various clubs.

Gillingham in Gear

The annual Gillingham in Gear show held to help raise fund for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. A low key show where you and turn up with anything transport related including motorbikes, cars, hot rods, fire engines and lorries. We had our usual stand with a good selections of Norton motorcycles.

Spring Run & BBQ

After a break of 2 years due to Covid we were able to once again hold the first of our yearly Club Run & BBQ’s. Normally held on the weekend of the last Bank Holiday in May so we had to wait until the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. Luckily we had a sunny ride out to the Churchill Arms, Alderholt followed by a BBQ at Pete’s later in the day. Quite a few members were away on holiday but a great day was had by all who attended.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

Once again a Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride took place in Bournemouth and we were invited to display some of our bikes at the finish as several members were taking part in the ride. The day was perfect for the ride dry and sunny but not too hot for everyone who had dressed up in their ‘Tweeds’ and suits. The weather must have brought everyone out as the Bournemouth Ride was the largest in the UK with over 650 entrants! Out of the 771 rides taking place around the world the ride was the 12th highest fund raiser and the 13th largest turnout of riders. Finally to top the day off Richard Senior was awarded ‘Bike of the Ride’ for his Dommie.

Sammy Miller Norton Day

The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum held a Norton Day so as we are the nearest Club we attended the event. Most of our members all rode in together so everyone could hear what Nortons sound like. We had almost 20 members with their bikes at the event. The President and Chairman of the Norton Owners Club both attended the event. Considering it was held during the week there was a good turn out of bikes.
